A long time ago, well just four years ago, John Kerry reminisced from his journal about a Christmas night when he lay gazing up into the empyrean reflecting on the great President Nixon. The only problem was Nixon wasn’t elected President until a year after that Christmas.
It’s now septuagenarian John McCain’s turn to “forget” the timing of his life events.
In a recent ad, John McCain talks about the inspiration that President Ronald Reagan was to him while he was a POW in Vietnam. The ad starts by saying, "As a prisoner of war John McCain was inspired by Ronald Reagan". The only trouble is John McCain lived in Florida before he entered the war and Ronald Reagan was a governor of California when McCain was a POW. In fact, Ronald Reagan became President seven years after John McCain got back from Vietnam. Even more interesting, John McCain entered politics two years into Ronald Reagan’s first term. McCain enlisted as a foot soldier for Reagan in 1982, unless he was some sort of visionary in Nam, I don't understand how Reagan was inspiring him. Ah, the vicissitudes of old age.
Unless I am missing something, McCain can’t remember what was happening, can’t remember what you said, nor can he understand when he's been caught in a lie – at least that’s what McCain appears to demonstrate.
I am going to vote for Mitt Romney.
